Hello there, I am currently a Sgt in the Marine Corps and I'm in Iraq right now. I am the Marine standing with our flag on your website. I would just like to express my thanks
to you all for everything you are doing. You have no idea how much you have helped my mother during her time of worry. She has been very stressed about my being
here, but you guys helped her in her knowing she's not alone. It takes great people to make a great difference, and from the bottom of all of our hearts over here,
thank you for your support. Sincerely, Sgt Sandel, M.W.

![]() News about Operation Yellow Ribbon
Heather, Hello:
Thank you! I am LCDR Mick Bastian, the Executive Officer of the USS Rushmore. It has come to my attention that your organization has donated several supplies including ribbon material and other nice things to Tammi Royales of the Rushmore Family Support Group, for our upcoming Homecoming in June. I wanted to send a note to thank you for your kind donations and your support of the United States Navy and to the Rushmore. It is organizations such as yours that make this country such a great place to live and, in our case, defend. Your donations will help to construct a Flower Lei that will be draped over the bow of the ship as we arrive back to homeport in San Diego, and I know the Family Support Group has plans for many other things now that they have supplies. Please thank your entire organization on our behalf, and also to Sue and Bill, who have assisted with Rushmore Family Support Group. Thanks again and god bless, Mick Bastian, Rushmore XO LCDR Michael "Mick" Bastian Executive Officer, USS Rushmore (LSD 47)

What People Are Saying...
Ms. Norman and Ms. Harsh,
Thank you kindly for the ribbons that you've sent to the Auburn, NY VFW Post for our upcoming deactivation ceremony. Our National Guard unit (1-108th Infantry) has been in existance for over 107 years and has been involved in nearly every major action that our country has found itself. (In fact, we were involved with General Pershing on the Mexican/US border in 1916 - one of the first "homeland defense" missions.) Since 9/11 we've deployed on stateside security mission and to Iraq and as recently as last week, were on duty protecting the NY city area railroads and rail yards. Sadly, this Sunday our unit will be deactivated and the companies transferred to other commands. On that day, our entire battalion will march from the center of the City of Auburn NY, to our armory. Certainly a rare event for such a large formation of soldiers to march down a civilian street. An event that the majority of our soldiers mostl likely will never experience again. For the jaded amongst our ranks who see this as boring or a waste of time, the sight of all your ribbons along the march route will surely make them stand taller and understand why we should all take pride in what we do and for what others have done before us. Towards the end of our official formation will be all able bodied veterans who have elected to march with us. The ribbons for them will be a reminder of when they came home, quite likely without any pomp and circumstance and they will be gratefull for the gesture of respect. For the civilians along the route, free to shower cheer or scorn as they see fit, the ribbons will be a distinct symbol of why they should honor the soldiers marching along their city street - their freedom is protected by those same soldiers who have done so in the past and will in the future. Thank you once again for your support. Sincerely, Robert F. Romano Project Officer "Valor Twilight" Robert F. Heather & Sue, What a Wonderful thing your both doing and love the fact that your Mother & Daughter, just too special.. I have 2 nephew who are now serving, Thank You for ever so much for your Though's and Prayers. Bonnie Palmer Thank you so much! You are also doing a great service to our country by getting these ribbons out when yellow ribbons in our area are often sold out. We are proud of our troops and it is great to see such support for them and the families. I emailed my husband about this and their unit is very touched. God Bless Catherine Lewis Heather, Thank you so much for what you are doing for me and for the other batallion wives I know. We are extremely excited about their return and just knowing that people all over the country are supporting them means so much. I will definitely put the poster up for you (it is the least I can do). I will let you know when I receive the bows. Take care and God bless! Autumn Heather, Thanks again so much. I look forward to receiving the yellow ribbons and may even have enough extra to provide some to my friends at work. Your emails have touched my heart and I am very grateful for all your efforts on behalf of our troops, and my son. It does make a difference to them when they see the warm, patriotic response from all of us "civilians". My son has been stopped at the airport (while wearing his uniform) and had people thank him and shake his hand. It does help lift their spirits, especially when they are leaving their families behind for a time. I know that the work that you are doing has lifted the hearts of many. Keep up the great work! I know the families of the troops deploying from Ft Riley will appreciate the yellow ribbons that you will be placing on their behalf. God bless you! Karen I just wanted to say thank you for the yellow ribbons that were dropped off today at the Seward NE Armory. I'm sure our soldiers friends and families will appreciate them. Thank you for all of your support. SPC Amanda Vega Det 2 173rd CHEM Seward NE, 68434 Susan and Heather, and all of your help too, I just finished reading about your efforts in our local paper (Seward County Independent in Nebraska) and after viewing your website, I just wanted to say Thank You for all of your work, and for putting forth a positive attitude, and for doing so much to help people to show support for our troops. I am so sorry that I didn't know about your visit to our area! I would have loved to have stopped to say thanks in person and shake your hands, and of course to purchase some ribbons! J We have a son serving in Baghdad with the 3RD ID, and it warms my heart more than you know to see this kind of effort put forth for our troops. Thank You, and My best wishes to you both, and in all of your efforts. Leota Schutte
